Change
It strengthens the unity of the Tamil community by connecting diaspora Tamils with those in the homeland, fostering a sense of Tamil identity and encouraging social participation among them.
Empowerment
Puthiya Velicham empowers war-affected Tamil communities by building confidence, leadership, and self-reliance through education, training, and emotional support. It inspires the belief: “I am capable.”
Self-Reliance
Since 2017, Puthiya Velicham has conducted 40+ organic farming workshops across Sri Lanka’s North and Hill Country. These efforts promote self-reliance by encouraging families to grow their own food.

Teachers Education - 2020
10,000 steps per day for 100 days
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we focused on physical and mental health to build a healthier community, while also supporting the educational development of the homeland people. Workshops and training sessions for teachers were conducted in the North-Eastern districts.. $25,000 Donation | A Grand Long Journey
OrphanageCenters - (Sivapoomi ) - 2021
10,000 steps per day for 100 days
During the COVID-19 crisis, a donation of $23,000 Canadian dollars was given to Sivabhoomi Home. Through this, we were able to bring attention to the shelters in the North-East on an international level..
Self Resilience - 2022
10,000 steps per day for 100 days
In response to the homeland’s economic situation, we launched Agri Star 2022 – Self-Resilience Starts at Home in North-East and Hill Country schools, encouraging students to engage in home-based food production. Natural farming training sessions were also held.$18,000 Canadian Doller.
Value Addition- 2023
10,000 steps per day for 60 days
We promoted Value Addition Awareness to boost demand for local products through value-adding technologies. Trainings were held for students, producers, and professionals on food research, local markets, and export opportunities.

This year’s focus was on empowering local producers through training in food innovation, marketing, and entrepreneurship. A highlight was the Jaffna city walk on August 6, which gained major media attention and raised awareness on value-added local products.

The ocean holds not just water, but our tears and sacrifices. The Blue Economy goes beyond marine products, covering ocean conservation and its role in human sustainability. Marine-based tourism and the broader ocean economy are vital for our island nation and deserve deeper discussion.
Blue Economy - 2024 - Eelam
10,000 steps per day for 60 days
Over 100 youth walked from Point Pedro to Mathagal to raise awareness on the challenges faced by Northern Sri Lanka’s coastal communities. The initiative promoted sustainable use of marine resources, ocean conservation, and youth empowerment through education and eco-friendly livelihoods.
Healing Young Minds - 2025

Teenage years are full of dreams, doubts, and discovery. Many parents feel distant from their teens—but we can rebuild that bond. Raise awareness for youth mental health and emotional well-being.Let’s walk. Let’s talk. Let’s heal. Their future begins with our steps.
